If you spend all of April thinking “Rain, rain, go away!” then maybe it’s time to turn the gloom outside into something positive. We all love sunshine, but there’s still plenty to appreciate about a rainy day. It might give you the opportunity to do something that you otherwise wouldn’t, and it’s the perfect encouragement for some R&R! Here are some rainy day ideas to help you get through this April:

Spend an afternoon at a café. Sipping on coffee or tea while people-watching is a relaxing way to spend the afternoon. Or you can stay in: brew a pot of coffee, curl up on the couch, and pick up that book you’ve been meaning to read but never seem to have time for.

Cook a gourmet meal from scratch. While you’re staying indoors, use this as an excuse to try out a recipe that takes a little more elbow grease than your usual weeknight meal. Cook up some comfort food, and you’ll get to enjoy a delicious reward when you’re done!

Attend a wine tasting. Are there any wineries or tasting rooms nearby? There’s something romantic about sipping wine while rain drizzles down the windows.

Craft with the kids. Or, if you don’t have kids, try out a craft just for yourself. Isn’t there a DIY project you’ve been wanting to try out but were always too busy to do?

Bake cookies. Freshly-baked cookies will make your whole house smell wonderful. Nothing warms you up on a cold rainy day than a batch of cookies still hot and gooey from the oven!

Go outside and jump in puddles. You don’t have to stay inside on a rainy day. Let your inner child out to play!

If you’ve never enjoyed rainy days, maybe now is the time to start trying to appreciate all kinds of weather. You may even find a new hobby, and you’ll be in a better mood when those gloomy days roll around!
