We all love sharing with our pets! We share our furniture, our homes, and sometimes our food… although it’s vital to know what your dog should and shouldn’t be eating from your plate. That doesn’t mean Fido should never get people food; in fact, there are lots of foods you enjoy that your dog will also love!

Since June is National Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Month, why not share some of this fresh goodness with your pup? Ditch the store-bought treats and go au natural this month… so to speak. Here are some fruits and veggies that you can share with your dog:

  1. Pumpkin: Pumpkins may be currently out of season, but they never go out of style! Whether it’s fresh or canned, this tasty treat is a hit with dogs and aids their digestive system, too!
  2. Pears: Dogs love them because they’re juicy and sweet, and they have a nice chewable texture.
  3. Apples: Yes, dogs love sweet things… and they love a good crunch, too! Just make sure to throw away the core because the seeds can be harmful.
  4. Carrots: Did we mention that dogs love crunchy things? Carrots are the perfect chewable snack, and they’re good for oral hygiene, too, since they clean and polish your pup’s teeth… win/win!
  5. Watermelon: Hate to see Fido panting on a hot day? This super juicy fruit is the perfect snack when your dog needs to rehydrate.
  6. Green beans: Fiber and crunchiness make green beans a great snack any time, especially for those health conscious dogs keeping a lower calorie diet.
  7. Blueberries: These are just fun to eat, and your dog will like them, too! Sharing is caring…

These fruits and veggies are yummy treats for humans, too, so that’s one more thing you can enjoy sharing with your dog. And the next time you give him a nibble from your plate, you can feel good about sharing something that’s good for him and that he’ll love!
