With humble beginnings as the delicious Austrian ‘kipferl’ dated all the way back to the 13th century, its’ incredible transformation into today’s croissant transpired thanks to the contributions of Boulangerie Viennoise pastry shop owner August Zang, who shaped his little delicacies into the shape of a crescent during the early 19th century, and French baker Sylvain Claudius Goy, who began cleverly incorporating yeast in 1915. We surely thank them both for their foodie expertise, and in just 4 days, the annual celebration of National Croissant Day will be here!
