I was recently getting stuck like a pincushion, (acupuncture), and was being my usual Chatty-Kathy with my acupuncturist about nutrition, allergies, vitamin D deficiencies and somehow we came up on the topic of prop 37, remember that one?? She left the room in a super hurry and came back to hand me a copy of an article she had just gotten. I was crushed and heartbroken to find some of my favorites, whom I thought were all about providing us healthy products, had contributed to the defeat of the campaign. I also didn’t know that some of these companies (Naked Juice, Boca Burger, Santa Cruz Organics, Kashi, Muir Glen, Larabar, Horizon, and Silk, to name a few) were now owned by big companies like PepsiCo, Coca-Cola and Unilever (the soap company, really??). It also made me ask, “Why would they do that? What are they hiding?” They donated anywhere from $254,00 to  $2.5 million. Could they have done something better with that money? The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) is now calling on all honest food advocates everywhere to boycott all these companies and their products for opposing GMO labeling. Pretty soon the only safe thing for me to eat will be the parsley I grow.
