we-want-cookies

We all love cookies, from child hood memories of your grandmother’s fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, to your home-made-half-burnt sugar cookies at Christmas. Everyone loves a delicious cookie, but do you know where it all started?
According to the culinary records books, cookies happened by accident! The first “cookies” were actually small test cakes. The bakers used to take a small amount of batter, place it in the oven to cook, and sample the end product. This wonderful “accident” is what has given us the cookie, as we know it today.
The earliest known forms of cookies dates all the way back to 7th Century Persia A.D, which is one of the first countries to cultivate sugar. We can also see that some of the earliest cookie recipes date back to the 1500’s, 1600’s, and 1700’s. It seems as if this sweet mishap was bound for our future!
Luckily, cookies today are much more delicious than those of previous centuries. We took their culinary tricks and mastered these amazing treats, but even a stale cookie is better than no cookie sometimes.
Cookies come in all different types and varieties and each country seems to have their own take on these heavenly treats. Some big, some small, some thick, some thin. Different flavors run as wild as the baker’s imagination throughout the world, creating some of today’s most popular cookies.
Did you also know that cookies used to supplement travelers’ diets when food was scarcely available to them in their travel? There is also a doctor who believes that only eating cookies can help you lose weight! Sounds a little crazy, but delicious! That last fact you should probably hide from your children unless…
Come to think about it, I would like a cookie right now.
