Right now there’s one thing on everyone’s minds: New Year’s Resolutions. But how many people actually keep those resolutions in the long run? Resolutions are like a wish list of what you’d like to do, but having the desire to change isn’t enough! Instead, think of your resolutions as goals: results you plan to achieve. Here’s what you need to do to turn your New Year’s Resolution into an achievable goal:
Set Your Goal
You can’t achieve a goal if you don’t know what it is! The difference between making a resolution and setting a goal is that resolutions may not be achievable. When you set a goal, whether a business goal or a personal goal, it must be something that you know you can accomplish. Writing a vision statement is a good idea, so that you know exactly what you’d like to achieve.
Plan Your Goal
Plan ahead all of the steps to achieving your goal so that it becomes a process of change, rather than just an insurmountable end result. Be sure you can set aside dedicated time and space. Every piece of your plan should be able to fit realistically into your schedule, so that you have no excuses to quit.
Stick to Your Goal
If you want to stick to your goal, you’ll need proper motivation. There are several ways to motivate yourself. You can visualize your success or list out the benefits of accomplishing your goal. Other people are also a great motivator; get a buddy to encourage you to keep at it!
Set, plan, and stick to your goals, and you will be successful! All it takes is the right planning, motivation, and strategy to start turning your resolutions into accomplished goals.
