They always say inspiration strikes when you least expect it and in this case, it’s true. If you’re not familiar with Nike you must be living under a rock, but if so let us jog your memory. Nike is the multi-billion dollar company credited with starting the jogging craze and the enormously famous Air Jordan brand. What you probably didn’t know is that after years of struggling co-founder Bill Bowerman was watching his wife use their waffle maker when inspiration hit.

The waffle maker he realized would be the perfect shape for the sole of an athletic sneaker. Bowerman created the original ‘waffle trainer’ with an actual waffle iron and officially created the first Nike sneaker sole.
