As 2019 comes to a close, we have arrived at the busiest time of year for gift giving and receiving. One question I frequently get is, “Is it better to personally deliver my gift? Or should I ship it. And will it make me look bad if I ship it?” Here are my thoughts on the matter.

 

If you’re already planning to see your clients and you’re making the rounds, I think absolutely- go ahead and plan to bring your gift to give during your visit. It’s a lovely gesture and your clients will surely appreciate the sentiment. 

 

However, if you weren’t planning to make the rounds (or your client isn’t nearby) don’t worry about having to ship. A thoughtful, hand-written note goes over just as well when you can’t be there in person. It’s more likely that they’ll be so touched by your gesture, they won’t even be thinking about the way it was delivered.

 

Also, don’t forget about the element of surprise. It’s always exciting to receive something unexpected in the mail. Don’t sweat the details!
